Eerie | Poetry | Maham's wandering mind

Aurora

He stood still, seeing himself as corporeal,

Within a crowd, which felt unreal.

Feeling all alone in the world, he desired for a naked soul.

He longed and longed, but got nothing at all.

One day, with no patience in store, he stepped outside

To begin his journey, which seemed more of a voyage,

Above the sea of all those bodies.

He looked and searched many places,

Exposed, cornered and even the hidden spaces,

But heavy heartedly, headed home at slow paces.

Hopeless and disappointed, with his head bowed,

he walked and almost got lost in the crowd

But then, suddenly, he bumped into a spirit;

Beautiful and pure, like an angelic whole

She stood there in front of him,

And he could see in her, a reflection of him.

He connected immediately, and they could talk for hours.

Happy he felt and jumped with pleasure.

“Where have you been?”, he asked with gleaming face,

“Just by your side, always been. I wonder why you could not see me till now”

Held aback, he felt eerie.

But they were together now,

so he let it go because it felt surreal.

“Strange”, he thought, “how people say one could only find soul mate in a lover”

Together, they went home.

As he found it in his sister,

And she, in her brother.
